Yash Raj Films gears up 2007 with seven movies |

Yash Raj Films is all set to recreate ‘dhoom’ in the Indian film industry this coming year. The Bollywood major is planning to release at least six to seven films next year.
The films that are lined up are: Tara Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Chak De India and Chudiyan (working title). Apart from this, Madhuri Dixit’s comeback movie directed by Anil Mehta is also in the pipeline.
What’s more, YRF plans to start work on at least two (if not three) more movies, which will also be released next year.
Tara Rum Pum, directed by Siddhartha Raj Anand, will star the Hum Tum pair Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji. The movie is slated to release in April next year.
Shaad Ali’s Jhoom Barabar Jhoom starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta is also slated for a release next year. Shooting for the film is presently underway in the UK. The music of the film is given by the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio.
A film revolving around hockey with Shah Rukh Khan as the coach of a girls’ hockey team is what Chak De India is all about. The film is being directed by Shimnit Amin (Ab Tak Chhappan) and the producers are looking at a release date in August 2007. Apart from SRK, the film is said to have new faces, which will comprise the hockey team. The major part of the film is being shot in the Australian cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The music of the film is provided Salim and Sulaiman.
Next in line will the Pradeep Sarkar film, which is tentatively titled Chudiyan starring Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher and Kunal Kapoor.
Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film will also be from Yash Raj Films. The yet untitled film will be directed by cinematographer Anil Mehta. Mehta has to his credit films like Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Veer-Zaara and Saathiya amongst others as a cinematographer.
There is yet another untitled project, which is up and running at present. This apart, the production house is looking at another two films at least for release in 2007. All in all, one can expect a total of six to seven Yash Raj films next year.
The year 2006 saw movies like Fanaa, Dhoom:2 and Kabul Express releasing from the Yash Raj stable. Whereas in 2005, Neal ‘N Nikki, Salaam Namaste and Bunty Aur Babli hit the theatres. Prior to that Hum Tum and Dhoom released in 2004. |
